Letter from the President

Where

The tour starts and ends in Merisatamanranta in Eira, along the Kaivopuisto waterfront. The 12 kilometre cycling route runs through the city centre’s most scenic areas.

Why

Climate change is the most pressing issue of our time and tackling it requires immediate action. Despite the situation we and our planet found ourselves in, fighting climate change can and should be done in good spirits. By participating in CC Helsinki you join hundreds of likeminded people in taking a stand against climate change, and for a better future for generations to come.

“Be the change you want to see in the world.”

It was supposed to be an ordinary evening in March 2019. I was hanging around with a friend, and we were worried. We knew the world is facing one of the humankind’s biggest challenges, but was anybody doing anything concrete and meaningful to tackle it?

Not really. True, some people are organizing demonstrations and strikes for the climate, but we felt that they don’t really solve anything. Once a demonstration is over and selfies taken, nothing changes.

We thought change could sprout from the grass-root level, but making a difference should be fun, too. If global climate issues are left for politicians to solve, we will all be doomed. The sun will barbeque us all before achieving any consensus on what should be done.

Normally, we would have just whinged and left it at that, but this was no ordinary evening. This time I decided to act and do our bit.

This is how Climate Cycling got started.

What is Climate Cycling?

Climate Cycling is a cycling event for companies and other organisations; it will be held for the first time in Helsinki on the 11th of September 2019.

Taking part in Climate Cycling is a perfect way for businesses to show their involvement in the battle against climate change.

Climate Cycling is also a charity event. After the event, the world will have changed just a tiny bit better, as we are collecting donations to World Wide Fund for Nature concrete measures to combat climate change. Those measures will be reported openly through our channels.

Welcome and enjoy the ride!
